Facial Wrinkles

Wrinkles are the lines and creases that form in our skin because of unavoidable
chronological aging, as well as environmental factors.

Wrinkles develop due to the inadequate repair of damaged collagen and elastin fibers over a period of time.

Causes of Facial Wrinkles:

1.Chronological aging due to hormone depletion, telomere shortening, and hereditary factors among others

2.Photo-aging due to UVA/UVB and infra-red exposure

3.Glycation as an inevitable process of aging, although it is also induced by high sugar intake

4.Toxi-aging due to environmental toxicities: pollution, ionized radiation, food additives, and preservatives in cosmetics and body lotions

5.Smoking

6.Alcohol

The two main types of wrinkles

Dynamic wrinkles

Dynamic wrinkles occur naturally as a result of us showing our emotions: We smile, laugh, cry and frown and, while expressing our emotions, these lines become more obvious.

As we become older, collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid decrease, reducing the skin’s elasticity and structure. Eventually, some of those dynamic wrinkles transform into static – or permanent- wrinkles.

Static wrinkles

Static wrinkles are basically permanent lines on the face formed continuously due to the inadequate repair of elastic and collagen fibers. They can appear in the area of repeated facial expression (such as smile lines) or independently in any part of the face.

Our approach to wrinkle removal

Because no two people are the same, we create a personalised approach to every client, with our goal being to retain a natural look.

Liquid face lift

For softening facial wrinkles comprehensively, 8th SENSE recommends what is known as the liquid face lift.

It combines neuromodulator treatment, to relax muscles that are creating wrinkles, and fillers that effectively fill up folds, wrinkles, lines etc.

We recommend this treatment to anyone with mild to moderate facial wrinkles and sagging requiring rapid improvement.

MD™ codes

Synergistically with Liquid facelift and 3D facial rejuvenation, 8th Sense uses MD™ codes to ensure that facial rejuvenation and volume restoration are implemented based on “divine proportions” or the “golden ratio” principles, aiming to harmonize the facial features. Our aesthetic work has changed over time, from simply erasing wrinkles to creating beautification and face reshaping. Because no two people are the same, we create a personalised approach to every client, with our goal being to retain a natural look.

3D facial rejuvenation

8th SENSE have also adopted a new approach – 3D facial rejuvenation – as we understand that aging affects deeper facial structures that we cannot always see, such as fat tissue misplacement, bone loss, ligament aging etc.

This method not only works on superficial facial wrinkles, but also results in a deep volume restoration of the face, treating shadows on the face as well as volume loss using fillers. By creating a myo-modulation of the muscle where necessary and supporting ligaments we can address deeper facial structures that are involved in facial aging.

Liquid face lift

We understand how much South African women, who live in an environment of harsh sunlight, desire to continue to look youthful without being seen to have work done. We have developed our own unique approach – the 8th SENSE ‘re-fresh’ – which is the result of Dr Nedic’s 15 years’ experience in the field.

Our 8th SENSE ‘re-fresh’ is a holistic approach to treating wrinkles, maintaining the natural look, where we tailor aesthetic procedures according to individual needs.

Dermal fillers for static wrinkles

Many wrinkles are commonly treated with dermal fillers, which are injected into static wrinkles, with the aim of softening them. Although the most commonly treated wrinkles include nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and vertical lip lines, any static wrinkle can be treated with a filler. New generation fillers are designed to target a specific area of the face and used at a certain depth to deliver more precise results. They are longer lasting, usually up to 18 months, and can achieve great tissue integration. In other words, there are no visible signs that you have had treatment (other than improved look), and the ‘lumps and bumps’ usually seen with old-generation fillers are not present. 8th SENSE uses JUVÉDERM® (Allergan.Inc) and Restilayne® (Galderma) fillers.

Neuromodulator for dynamic wrinkles

Neuromodulator (BonTA) works as an injectable muscle relaxant. It is used in various medical fields and has been tried and proven in more than 20 years of use.
